J.D. Davis Will Need Rehab Assignment
4 years agoNew York Mets third baseman/outfielder J.D. Davis (hand), currently on the 10-day injured list, will need a rehab assignment before his activation according to manager Luis Rojas. It was initially anticipated that Davis would be activated either Saturday or Sunday. As a result, Davis' return will likely be pushed back to later in the week before the Mets head to Miami to face the Marlins on Friday. Over just 41 at-bats in 2021, Davis has posted a .390/.479/.610 slash line with two home runs and seven RBI. During Davis' absence, Jonathan Villar has performed well as the Mets' regular third baseman. Given Villar's performance, the Mets will not rush Davis back to the team. They will instead take a rational, cautious approach with him, especially considering the fact he has already been on the IL two times this season. Once he returns, Davis, who can provide fantasy managers with solid counting stats and batting average, should be activated in deeper mixed league and NL-only formats.
