Taijuan Walker With Another Strong Start
4 years agoNew York Mets starting pitcher Taijuan Walker had another strong start on Wednesday against the Orioles in the Mets' 7-1 win. Walker, who improved to 3-1 on the season, went seven innings allowing just four hits, three walks, and one earned run, while striking out four. It was his third quality start in his last four outings, as he dropped his ERA to 2.20 and WHIP to 1.02 on the season. The one blemish to his start was the three walks allowed, an issue that continues to plague the 28-year old. He has now allowed 18 walks in 41 innings pitched on the season. If the free passes continue to be an issue, we could see some regression in his ERA and WHIP. That said, Walker has been a nice surprise for the Mets in the early part of 2021 and is becoming a consistent fantasy start in all formats. Fantasy managers who used a late-round draft pick on Walker have reaped the rewards of his bounce back. Walker will next face the Braves on the road either Monday or Tuesday, depending on how the Mets' rotation shakes out with Jacob deGrom (side) currently on the 10-day injured list.
