Dane Dunning Strikes Out 10 Batters
4 years agoTexas Rangers pitcher Dane Dunning had his swing-and-miss stuff working on Sunday. The rookie right-hander struck out 10 batters in five innings of work against the Seattle Mariners. He allowed three runs on six hits and three walks. The strikeouts were a season-high for the right-hander who had previously topped out at six. Dunning isn't a household name but he's a solid fantasy option given his ability to miss bats — 39 strikeouts in 33 1/2 innings — as well as his tendency to suppress home runs. He's been taken deep just once this season. The young hurlers' fastball only sits around 90-91 mph but he can miss bats with three different pitchers: sinker, slider, and changeup.
