Gleyber Torres Delivers Game-Winning Hit
4 years agoNew York Yankees shortstop Gleyber Torres went 2-for-5 with a pair of RBI in Saturday's extra-innings victory over the Nationals. Torres struggled mightily against Nationals' ace Max Scherzer, as he struck out three times against the veteran right-hander. The Yankee shortstop still left his mark on the game later on, as he came up huge with a game-tying single in the ninth inning, along with a game-winning infield single in the 11th. Torres' game-winning hit registered an exit velocity of just 49.5 MPH, the lowest-recorded exit velocity for any hit in his career- though it came at an excellent time. Torres had six hits, five RBI, and four walks over the past week but still has yet to crank a homer in 2021.
