Edwin Diaz Picks Up His Fourth Save Of 2021
4 years agoNew York Mets closer Edwin Diaz picked up his fourth save of the season on Thursday in the Mets' 4-1 win over the Cardinals in St. Louis. In his one inning of work, Diaz did allow two hits but managed to strand both baserunners in securing the win. Although he didn't strike anyone out on Thursday, Diaz's performance was a nice bounce back from his last outing against the Phillies on May 2 in which he almost blew a four-run lead and had to be removed from the game due to back tightness. Diaz now owns a 3.86 ERA, a 1.29 WHIP, and a 14:5 K:BB in 11 2/3 innings pitched on the season. He is also a perfect 4-for-4 in save opportunities. Diaz remains a top relief pitcher option in all fantasy formats, particularly pitching for a Mets team that should be competitive throughout the 2021 campaign.
