4 years agoFuture Hall of Fame first baseman Albert Pujols is being released by the Los Angeles Angels on Thursday, according to MLB.com's Mark Feinsand. Pujols is in the last year of his massive 10-year, $253 million contract. The 41-year-old Pujols has struggled at the plate so far this season. Over 24 games, he's slashed .198/.250/.372 with five home runs, 12 RBI and nine runs scored. Jared Walsh, who had already been playing regularly at both first base and in right field, should take over as the team's primary first baseman going forward. It's unclear if Pujols is interested in joining another organization, but if he does, he'll remain well off the fantasy radar, at least in mixed leagues.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller
