One and Done Selections - Wells Fargo Championship
Joe Nicely - Bryson DeChambeau
Alternate -
After a strong week out of my boy Viktor Hovland last week, I head to this week’s Wells Fargo
Championship feeling energized, but still far behind Spencer in this contest. As a result, it’s
“bombs away” for my picks from here on out.
That phrase - “bombs away” - sums up my choice for this week pretty well. Bryson
DeChambeau is much more than a guy that just bombs it off the tee, but there’s a lot to be said
for brute force this week on a Quail Hollow layout that stretches out over 7,500 yards. Raw
distance is certainly an asset I’m looking for this week, a facet that Bryson has covered in
spades. Ability to score on the Par-5s will be crucial this week, as will accuracy from 200+ yards
out, an area where DeChambeau is vastly underrated and ranks first in the field.

Spencer Aguiar - Will Zalatoris
Alternate - Patrick Reed
I assume I am going to have to survive an onslaught of star-studded picks from the guys this week, but I feel like I am in a decent spot with my total and player pool I have in front of me. Clearly, I have been aggressive early in the year, which in turn is going to make things slightly more complicated coming down the stretch, but the rise of Will Zalatoris has given me an explosive option to deploy at the Wells Fargo Championship.
I had considered saving Zalatoris for the PGA Championship, but I feel a little more comfortable rolling him out for an event like Quail Hollow and using my other option for the second major of the season. The young American has been impressive with five top-25 finishes over his previous six stroke-play events, and I like the upside he possesses from both a distance and par-five scoring perspective.
Yearly Earnings - $6,754,738
Yearly Cuts Made - 14/17
Josh Bennett - Tony Finau
Alternate - Max Homa
This is the second week in a row where I looked at the field and wasn’t exactly sure where to start. A little extra digging worked for me somewhat with Sungjae last week, so going the same route this week with someone that isn’t exactly obvious. The obvious choice here is Rory, but I’ve already used him so I can’t go that route. So, I’m going with someone that hasn’t been spectacular in this event in the past, but he’s been pretty good. As long as Tony doesn’t get too wild off the tee, this course should be perfect for him. He’s obviously very long off the tee, so he’ll be able to shorten up a lot of these long par 4’s and reach the par 5’s for easy scoring chances. He’s always been an excellent ball-striker, especially on longer approaches to greens, which will be very helpful this week. There are also some rumors about the course being wet this week and if that is true, it’s good reason to like him even more on an already long course. He has an issue with winning, but we’ve seen breakthrough wins at this event before, so maybe this week is Tony’s time.
Yearly Earnings - $2,728,347
Yearly Cuts Made - 13/17
Andrew Putters - Bryson DeChambeau
Alternate - Viktor Hovland
Quail Hollow is a big golf course, so we need a big-time player this week. With this course being over 7500 yards long, there is no golf course too big for Bryson. Par 5 scoring is a must this week, and Bryson destroys par 5s. He also has taken some much-needed time off after his disappointment at The Masters. Bryson is a can't miss selection for your OAD leagues this week.
