Brian Goodwin Agrees With White Sox
4 years agoThe Chicago White Sox agreed to a minor league deal with outfielder Brian Goodwin on Tuesday. The veteran Goodwin was non-tendered by the Cincinnati Reds after last season and latched on with the Pittsburgh Pirates. He hit just .229/.317/.689 with a homer, six RBI and two stolen bases in 41 plate appearances this spring with the Bucs. The White Sox are now without both Eloy Jimenez and Luis Robert in the outfield, so Goodwin will give the Pale Hose a little more organizational depth there. The 30-year-old is a career .250/.317/.455 hitter in five big league seasons, and he is unlikely to make much of an impact if he gets the call up to the major leagues. Billy Hamilton should now see regular playing time in center field with Robert out for 12 to 16 weeks. He's a speed asset in mixed leagues but won't help much with his bat.
