Chargers Draft Josh Palmer
4 years agoWith the 77th pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Los Angeles Chargers have drafted Tennessee wide receiver Josh Palmer. Palmer never had a huge season for the Volunteers, topping out at 484 yards in 2018 and four touchdowns last season, but he showed promise as a deep threat in Knoxville. He's shown some improvement as a route runner as well, but inconsistency plagued him over his four years in college. He'll be in a much better system with Los Angeles, where second-year quarterback Justin Herbert is able to actually get the ball to his deep threats. L.A. also has a clear need for a No. 3 receiver, so Palmer will have a chance to win that job. Don't consider him the favorite for it as Jalen Guyton had a solid 2020 campaign and don't expect a lot in fantasy from Palmer even if he wins that role, but there's some intrigue here for the future.
