Nets forward/center Jeff Green is a worthy consideration as a fantasy basketball waiver wire pickup heading into Week 19 of the NBA season.
BALLER MOVE: Add in 14-Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 36% of leagues
ANALYSIS: I don't remember the last time we watched a fully healthy Nets squad, do you? Anyway. The good thing about that is that 1) Brooklyn seems to be not affected by it, as they have hold of the no. 1 seed in the East, and 2) role-players such as Jeff Green are heavily used by the Nets nightly making for steady performers available for us fantasy GMs on cheap deals. Nothing to hate here, folks, with Jeff Green as a staple of Brooklyn's starting lineups these days and playing bonkers minutes on a daily basis.
Jeff Green started the year with the Nets, contrary to the likes of Blake Griffin and now-retired LaMarcus Aldridge. He's played in 59 games this season and started 35 of them. The best thing is that 19 of those starts have come after the AS break, a span in which Green has 26 total GP. Even more encouraging for fantasy managers adding Green ROS is the fact that he's played a very healthy 34 MPG in his last six games from Apr. 20 on, only dropping below 30 minutes once.
Irving/Durant/Harden available or not, the Nets are definitely not going to risk even the smallest of things leading up to the playoffs, which means Green will keep racking up minutes and putting up numbers if only because of brute force. Green has dropped 8+ points in each of the last six games averaging a much better 14.6 PPG in that span. He's pairing those scoring numbers with averages of 5+ RPG, 3+ APG, and 1.8 stocks per game. Green has avoided turning the ball over in four straight, making him a good value in 9-cat leagues on top of everything. Not a bad WW target, even more considering his multi-position eligibility in Yahoo leagues.
