Jeff McNeil Hits Second Homer Of The Season
Jeff McNeil belted his second home run of the season, a solo shot, in the Mets' 2-1 loss to the Red Sox on Tuesday. McNeil went 1-for-3 in the contest, with the homer and a strikeout. McNeil's homer accounted for the Mets' lone run in what was another rancid offensive performance for the team. McNeil, much like the rest of the Mets' offense with the exception of Brandon Nimmo and J.D. Davis, has struggled out of the gate in 2021. Through 17 games and 51 at-bats, he's slashing .196/.281/.353 with only two doubles, two HR, and five RBI. Notably, though, he has a 39.1% hard-hit rate in 2021, which is better than his career average of 32.8%. Fantasy managers should remain patient with McNeil who is too good of a hitter to remain in a funk like this for a prolonged period. He'll be a great source of batting average and on-base percentage ratios, to go with some power counting stats, when he eventually figures things out.

Jeff McNeil Sitting Out Versus Southpaw
Jeff McNeil (rest) is out of the starting lineup ahead of Sunday's game against the Washington Nationals. McNeil recently returned from the injured list on Friday and went 2-for-7 during the first two games of this series. However, McNeil will take a seat here with left-hander Mitchell Parker on the mound for the Nats. Luisangel Acuna will take over at second base and bat eighth versus Parker in this one. Acuna is more of a deep league option right now and isn't an ideal streaming option against Parker who has been strong to start the year.

Jeff McNeil Hitting Eighth In Season Debut
Jeff McNeil is starting at second base and is hitting eighth in his 2025 season debut on Friday against the division-rival Washington Nationals and right-hander Jake Irvin. McNeil was activated from the injured list on Thursday night and will make his first start for the Mets this year after missing the first four weeks of the year due to a right-oblique strain. The 33-year-old former batting champion went 11-for-28 (.393) with two home runs and three RBI in his eight minor-league rehab games with Single-A St. Lucie, Double-A Binghamton and Triple-A Syracuse. He will see most of his starts at the keystone in New York, but fantasy managers in 12-team leagues will want to see more from McNeil after he hit just .238 with 12 homers and 44 RBI in 129 games a year ago. In seven career at-bats against Irvin, he's hit .143 with a .393 OPS.

Jeff McNeil Activated From Injured List
Jeff McNeil (oblique) has been activated from the 10-day injured list on Thursday. McNeil appears to be ready for the weekend series after missing the beginning of the season due to an oblique issue. The veteran infielder hit .393 during his rehab assignment, so hopefully he can keep the good times rolling on the big league roster. The assumption is that McNeil will see regular playing time against right-handed pitching. Fellow infielder Brett Baty was optioned to Triple-A to make room for McNeil on the active roster. It sounds like McNeil should play quite frequently, but fantasy managers can still take a wait-and-see approach here.

Jeff McNeil Could Come Off Injured List On Friday
Jeff McNeil (oblique) gets through his final minor-league rehab game on Wednesday without issue, he'll come off the 10-day injured list for Friday's series opener against the division-rival Washington Nationals. The two-time All-Star is working his way back from an oblique injury but is on the cusp of making his 2025 debut. In seven rehab games with Single-A St. Lucie, Double-A Binghamton and Triple-A Syracuse, McNeil has gone 9-for-24 with two home runs, a double, two RBI, three walks and two strikeouts. While he hasn't looked like his former batting-champion self the last two years in New York, he's still fully expected to serve as New York's primary second baseman upon his return. That means that one of Brett Baty or Luisangel Acuna could be sent back to the minors this weekend.
