Austin Slater Steals Two Bags But Strikes Out Three Times
4 years agoSan Francisco Giants outfielder Austin Slater went 0-for-3 on Sunday against Miami in a 4-3 win for his team. Slater has hit all around the order this year, slotting at the first, sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth positions at different points through his 20 games played. Slater could only reach base once on Sunday when he walked and proceeded to steal two bags in that same inning. However, Slater did strike out three times in successive at-bats after that first walk. Slater is averaging fewer than a hit per game with a .219 average on the year while putting up a subpar overall season with a below-average 96 wRC+ through 73 plate appearances. The strikeouts are definitely an issue for Slater, who currently has a 36 percent strikeout rate to go with a 12 percent walk rate.
