Matt DiBenedetto Finishes Fifth On Sunday At Geico 500
4 years agoMatt DiBenedetto was finally in the position he wanted to be in. The white flag was raised and the Wood Brothers Racing driver prepared himself for the final 2.66 miles. DiBenedetto drove smart all day, but then he saw Ryan Blaney out of the corner of his eye. He made the decision to block Blaney, but that fraction of a second created a line on the bottom of the track. That resulted in a four-car train that passed DiBenedetto, denying him a victory. He finished fifth, which was his best result of the season. DiBenedetto learned a valuable lesson on Sunday, but his time will come.
