9-Category Leagues Waiver Wire
Columns are written based on H2H 9-category standard size leagues:
Bruce Brown, SG - Brooklyn Nets
41% rostered - So, on Sunday Brown played just 10 minutes with Kevin Durant and Tyler Johnson back in the lineup, so it's possible we've missed the train on Brown now. But he's scored in double figures in three of the past four games and grabbed double-digit rebounds in three of the last. He's been an efficient scorer as of late, and James Harden being out should still offer Brown a decent path to minutes, even if things didn't go his way on Sunday.
Daniel Gafford, C - Washington Wizards
33% rostered - The Wizards just keep winning! Washington has won their last eight games, going from a league laughingstock at the beginning of the year to a team that is heading for a spot in the postseason.
Maybe more shocking is that Daniel Gafford has played a big role in that.
Acquired at the deadline from Chicago, Gafford is giving some crucial center minutes to this team. Fro a fantasy perspective, he can give you a points/rebounds double-double on any night even though he isn't playing more than 25 or 26 minutes. He can also block a ton of shots. On Sunday, he had four of them, and then also added four steals just for good measure.
Oshae Brissett, SF/PF - Indiana Pacers
28% rostered - The Pacers are just absolutely wrecked by injuries right now, which is why Brissett is getting starts at center and a huge amount of minutes per game. He's scored in double figures in four consecutive games and has a mix of threes and rebounds that really stand out on the waiver wire. The 6'7'' forward won't be this good forever (assuming the Pacers get healthier at some point), but for now he's the most appealing option on the waiver wire. His efficiency and lack of assists are really the only marks against him right now.
Landry Shamet, PG/SG - Brooklyn Nets
26% rostered - While Brown's minutes dried up with Durant and Brown back, Shamet started and played 28 minutes against Phoenix. He failed to hit double-digits for the second game in a row, but Shamet is an elite three-point shooter playing 30-ish minutes per game in one of the NBA's best offenses. The upside for Shamet as a three-point shooter is just through the roof, as he's capable of hitting five or six or even seven treys on the right night.
P.J. Dozier, PG/SG - Denver Nuggets
14% rostered - The Nuggets continue to have issues when it comes to the guard position. Jamal Murray is already done of the year and Monte Morris is dealing with a hamstring injury. Now, Will Barton is ALSO dealing with a hamstring issue.
Saturday, Dozier ended up in the starting unit, where he scored 23 points while also adding seven rebounds, three assists, two steals, and two blocks. He made three three-pointers.
With all of these injuries, Dozier is going to keep playing around 30 minutes per game. Denver needs to find some non-frontcourt offense now, and Dozier has as good a chance as anyone to be the guy who provides that impact.
Brandon Goodwin, PG - Atlanta Hawks
9% rostered - With Trae Young (ankle) out for the foreseeable future, there are minutes available in Atlanta. Goodwin had 17 points in 22 minutes against Miami, but then followed that up with just three points against Milwaukee.
Overall, Goodwin is going to be up and down every night. He'll have some solid nights where he does enough offensively to make him worth a fantasy spot, and then he'll have some games where he doesn't do a lot. But in a deep league, the increased opportunities for him right now are enough for me to add him and potentially play him, even though it's the fantasy playoffs and you might be a little afraid of putting Goodwin in your lineup since Atlanta has a lot of mouths to feed.
