Alex Kirilloff To Be Recalled Friday
4 years agoMinnesota Twins outfielder Alex Kirilloff will get the call to join the team on Friday. Kirilloff had already appeared in a game for the Twins this season, though it was as the 27th man, and he was promptly sent back down to the alternate site. However, the organization's number-two ranked prospect figures to have more staying power this time around, given the injuries and positive COVID-19 tests the Twins are dealing with at first base and in the outfield, positions Kirilloff just so happens to play. Kirilloff will likely split time between first and the corner outfield spots with Miguel Sano (hamstring) headed for the injured list, though he could stay up with the big club for the rest of the season, given the struggles of Jake Cave, who has .347 OPS and 21 strikeouts compared to four walks this season. Kirilloff possesses batting average and home run upside in the powerful Twins' lineup.
