BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 13% of leagues
ANALYSIS: Tommy La Stella never blows you away with home run totals or power metrics, but his sustained offensive success for his new west coast ballclub in conjunction with his defensive versatility should ring loud to Fantasy Managers in deeper formats. La Stella has been on a roll since his breakout campaign of 2019, and has picked up right where he left off last season with the Angels and Athletics, producing a .333/.379/.444 slash with three doubles and just four strikeouts over his first 27 AB with San Francisco.
His BABIP has increased to .391, but that could easily be sustainable with his improved hard hit rate of 43.5% and 34.8% line drive rate. While those figures in combination with a 17.4% fly ball rate might not be very conducive to home run-hitting, they are quite conducive to sustained hitting with extra base-upside, and the safety net provided by his 13.8% strikeout rate outweighs the low ceiling in the power department. The defensive versatility makes Tommy La Stella a convenient plug-in for lineups in deeper leagues, and yet another sample size of well-rounded results at the plate make that a move worth making.
