Cesar Valdez Earns Third Save Of Season Friday
4 years agoBaltimore Orioles relief pitcher Cesar Valdez picked up his third save of the season in Friday's 5-2 win over the Rangers. Valdez entered to pitch the ninth inning up by three and things got a bit interesting. He got the first out, then Adolis Garcia reached first on a Maikel Franco throwing error. Valdez was able to get the second out before allowing a single to Nick Solak. With runners on first and third and two outs, Valdez was able to end the game with a strikeout. The veteran has done a surprisingly good job in save situations for the O's this season and looks to be the closer for now, converting three of four opportunities with a 1.23 ERA and seven strikeouts over 7 1/3 innings of work. The O's obviously need to score runs to provide Valdez with save opportunities, but he is worth a look in deeper roto leagues for fantasy managers looking for saves.
