Giancarlo Stanton Goes Yard In Loss To Rays
4 years agoNew York Yankees designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer and a pair of strikeouts in Friday's loss to the Rays. Stanton supplied the offense on a night when the Yankees' bats went cold, as his two RBI were the only runs scored by the team in the game. His home run was a bullet- 112.4 MPH off the bat- his sixth batted ball of 110 MPH or more, second in the majors behind only Vladimir Guerrero Jr., per Sarah Langs of MLB.com. Stanton is off to a bit of a slow start, though he has two hits and four RBI in his last two games, perhaps a sign that he's starting to find his groove. A tough matchup awaits Stanton and the Yankees on Saturday against Rays' ace Tyler Glasnow, who owns a 0.46 ERA and 29:3 strikeout-to-walk ratio through three starts in 2021.
