4 years agoMiami Marlins relief pitcher Anthony Bass earned a win in relief against the San Francisco Giants on Friday evening. Bass threw a perfect eighth inning, striking out one and throwing just eight pitches (seven strikes). The win improved his record to 1-2 and lowered his ERA to an even 9.00. Bass has pitched much better (but still not particularly well until this outing) since losing his grip on the closer's role. Despite the obvious success of Yimi Garcia in the ninth inning lately, recent quotes from manager Don Mattingly seem to imply that he wants Bass back in the ninth inning sooner than later. It's an awful baseball move, but it's obviously relevant to fantasy baseball managers.
