Yadier Molina Makes History On Wednesday
4 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina made history on Wednesday by becoming the first player ever to catch 2,000 games for the same team. Cardinals manager Mike Shildt gave Molina the day off yesterday, meaning "Yadi" was able to set the record after catching the first pitch from Adam Wainwright. Molina began his big league career in 2004 after being drafted by the Cardinals in the fourth round of the 2000 draft. The likely future Hall of Famer is off to a good start this year, batting .353/.410/.588 in 39 plate appearances. He continues to be a solid performer in a position almost devoid of difference makers.
