Blake Snell Gets Yanked In First Inning
4 years agoSan Diego Padres starter Blake Snell lasted just ⅔ innings Tuesday against the Pittsburgh Pirates, allowing three earned runs on three hits and two walks. Snell harmlessly retired the first two Bucs on eight pitches to start the contest before completely unraveling and getting pulled after 38 pitches before he could retire another batter. The ugly outing brings his season line to a 4.35 ERA, 1.65 WHIP and 14.8 K/9 through 10 ⅓ innings (three starts). The strikeout numbers have been good but Snell has labored in each start, failing to surpass five frames in any outing. He should be well-rested for a marquee showdown versus the Los Angeles Dodgers and starter Trevor Bauer on Sunday. Fantasy players managing tight innings restrictions may consider sitting him in that contest.
