Hello everybody and welcome! The 2021 MLB season and alive and well and that means our new friends over at PrizePicks have a TON of great props we can look to take advantage of. PrizePicks is a great DFS props site where you can choose to select plays in terms of fantasy points or single stats. The goal is to build a 2-player, 3-player, 4-player, or 5-player entry and then select whether or not you want to play for the power play or the flex play. On the power play, you will need to be correct on each of your selections to win, and on the flex play, you will have a little more wiggle room for a chance to win some money back.
Our partners at PrizePicks offer some of the best, and easiest to win, MLB DFS games in the industry. There are no large-field tournaments filled with sharks where you have to get lucky just to place. At PrizePicks, you're not playing against other people, you're just playing against the projections, and the guys at PrizePicks have worked hard to give you really attractive opportunities to make some money. With promo code 'BALLER' you can get a 100% match on your deposit up to $100.
PrizePicks has two types of games. The first type of game is known as Fantasy Score, which consists of selecting various players and trying to determine if they will go over or under their projected fantasy points in a game. The second game is known as Single Stat. For MLB, Single Stat consists of pitcher strikeout props in which you determine if the pitcher in question will go over or under their projected strikeout total. You can mix and match players from each type of game in your entry or select all of your plays from the same type of game. Once you have selected your players and props, you can choose the aforementioned flex play or power play option. For today's article, we are going to try and focus on the main board's Single Stat pitchers and explain why a pitcher will or will not go over their projected strikeout total. Let's see what the board offers today!

Single Stat MLBP and MLB Totals
Charlie Morton under 6.5 strikeouts - Morton managed to get seven Phillies in his last start as they are posting a 26.2% K rate vs. right-handers, but this could have been an anomaly for him even with their high K rate. In 2020, Morton only managed to go over 6.5 strikeouts in two of his 12 games and one of which was actually against the Phillies. The Marlins have not been horrid this season as they are posting a lower K rate than that of the Phillies and could actually put some runs up tonight.
Tyler Mahle over 5.5 strikeouts - Mahle has been solid in the strikeout department to begin the season as he has 15 strikeouts across his nine innings pitched. He gets a superb matchup in this one vs. the Giants. Currently, the Giants are posting a K rate of 30% against right-handed pitching, which is ranked third-worst in baseball. They are also posting a wRC+ of just 86, which is ranked in the bottom half of baseball. Mahle should be able to navigate this lineup and get over the hump.
Griffin Canning over 5.5 strikeouts - Canning struck out seven Blue Jays in 5 1/3 innings pitched in his debut and the Blue Jays are posting a 25.6% K rate vs. right-handed pitching. Enter the Kansas City Royals who are ranked second-worst in baseball in terms of K rate vs. righties with a rate of 30.4%. They are also posting the 11th-worst wRC+ vs. righties and Dylan Bundy just mowed down six Royals one night ago. Canning should also be good for six or more in this one.
Corey Kluber under 5.0 strikeouts - Kluber looked horrendous in his last start against the Tampa Bay Rays as he managed to go just 2 1/3 innings while only striking out three. In his first start of the season against these same Blue Jays, Kluber managed to go just four innings while striking out exactly five. This means Kluber has only thrown a total of 6 1/3 innings this season and may not be ready to make a deep run in this game. The Blue Jays seeing him for the second time should also help the cause for the under here.
Mike Trout over 1.5 hits+walks - Note: you will find Mike Trout listed under the MLB Single Stat board and under hits+walks (rather than under MLBP Single Stat). Trout has started the season on fire as he is slashing .368/.510/.763 through his first 11 games. He will be going up against Brad Keller who has been torched for 10 earned runs across his first 4 2/3 innings pitched to begin the season. The Royals also have the 17th ranked bullpen in terms of ERA in the league, so he will have opportunities for success after Keller exits. Trout has also gone over this total in seven of his first 11 games.
