Sandy Alcantara Manages A Quality Start On Monday
4 years agoMiami Marlins starting pitcher Sandy Alcantara pitched well on Monday against the Atlanta Braves, earning a quality start. In total, Alcantara tossed 6 1/3 innings, allowing three runs on four hits. He walked three and struck out four. Alcantara was not at his best in this one, but he was able to pitch around not having his best stuff and kept his team in the ball game. He had only allowed two runs through six innings, but manager Don Mattingly seems incapable of learning a lesson and allowed Alcantara to face the Braves lineup for a fourth time through the order. He only got one out in the sixth, but a late offensive surge bailed out the 2020 Manager of the Year once again. Alcantara is showing ace stuff this season, particularly in games like this when he isn't missing many bats but is still effective.
