Zac Gallen Will Start On Tuesday Against Oakland
4 years agoArizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Zac Gallen (forearm) will make his first start of the year on Tuesday afternoon against the Oakland Athletics, according to Zach Buchanan of The Athletic. Gallen has been on the injured list to open the year with a hairline stress fracture at the end of a bone in his forearm. Before being shut down at the end of Spring Training, Gallen had looked good with a 2.13 ERA and 11 strikeouts in 12 2/3 innings of work. He will face off against an Oakland offense that started off the year slumping, but has heated up in their last two games where they outscored the Astros 13-5. Oakland has a 25.5 percent strikeout rate and is slashing .189/.278/.307 as a team this year, and despite Gallen's early injury and the Athletic's recent warming up, this should be a very good matchup for Gallen in his return.
