Chase Elliott Never Leads But Finished Second At Martinsville
4 years agoIn the end, Chase Elliott nearly got to the front but came up a little bit short. Elliott finished second at Sunday's Blue Emu Maximum Pain Relief 500. The Hendrick Motorsports driver finished almost two seconds behind Martin Truex Jr. Elliott was able to pass Denny Hamlin with five laps to go as he caught a little edge and took advantage of a lapse. In a race that saw 15 cautions totaling 102 laps, Truex Jr. and ultimately Elliott had more long-run speed in the final 42 laps.
