Mitch Moreland Struggling To Start The Season
4 years agoOakland Athletics first baseman Mitch Moreland went 0-for-4 Thursday against the Astros to drop his season batting average to .167 to begin 2021. The 35-year-old has eight strikeouts against only two walks with only three RBI and zero runs scored a week into the season. Moreland was a decent fantasy option last year posting a .565 slugging percentage between the Red Sox and Padres, but isn't someone to have in fantasy lineups at the moment. The schedule for Oakland has been brutal to start the year playing the Astros twice and the Dodgers so things should ease up next week when Oakland has Arizona and Detroit on the docket. Bench Moreland on Friday versus Lance McCullers, but he can still be a solid corner infield option in fantasy once he starts seeing easier matchups.
