Bobby Portis (PF/C, MIL): Week 16 Waiver Wire Pickups

ANALYSIS: You have to laugh at some of the lineups the Bucks have run this season while resting players. Just last Friday, facing Charlotte, they put a starting fully comprised of reserve players, including Bobby Portis. Oh, and speaking of Portis, he's started three straight covering for Giannis Antetokounmpo missing time. Bobby will get back to the pine sooner than you can read this sentence, sure, but even coming off the bench Portis is one of the best second-unit players league-wide.

Portis has started just five games this season, and his current three-game run is just a fluke so don't buy into it. That being said, though, and on a much greater minute-diet, Portis has been able to keep his efficiency up--quite up, that is. Bobby is averaging 1.11 FP/min on the year, and in the past four (starting the last three and playing 30 MPG compared to his season-long 22 MPG) he's raised the bar to 1.22 FP/min. No wonder why, considering he's put up an average 15-11-1 line in those four going back to Apr. 3.

But that's been Portis all year long, don't get it wrong. Going back around three weeks, from Mar. 22 through Friday's games, Portis has played seven games averaging 32 FP and falling short of 25 just once. His per-minute numbers are insanely great, he is the leader of Milwaukee's second unit with a usage rate nearing the 25 percent of plays, and he has some three-point prowess on top of his well-known upside in the scoring and rebounding cats. Portis is commanding 12+ FGA a night in the past three weeks, and with Milwaukee pretty much locked into the third seed odds are he gets more playing time ROS until the postseason hits. Must-add in pretty much every league, let alone the deep ones.
