DraftKings Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (4/6/21): MLB DFS Lineups

We have an interesting 8-game slate on tap tonight. There are four elite pitching options with Yu Darvish, Clayton Kershaw, Lucas Giolito, and Tyler Glasnow. Some interesting SP2 options, but not the best. Coors Field is in play for bats, a nice pivot in the Jays and Rangers game, and some interesting stacks with the Mets and Rays. There are a lot of ways to go on tonight's Tuesday night slate.

When looking at the slate, it comes down to which approach you want to build with; pay up for pitching, pay up for bats, or a little of both. There are too many solid targets to mention in one article, so I highly recommend listening to MLB DFS Quick Hits to get a first look at the slate. Some of the initial standouts are the discounts with bats. There are nice discounts for each of the main stacks while still having some serious pay-up spots. Mixing and matching some of the nice values with the studs will be key. Besides the bats, it is all about paying up for two arms or rolling the dice with cheaper options. It should be a fun night of DFS action.

This article will provide you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings on 4/6/2021. The lineup will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. You can also check out today's FanDuel MLB DFS lineup picks and read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports too. It’s also important to monitor injury news and today's MLB starting lineups. If you have any questions or comments, contact me on Twitter @bdentrek.

DraftKings DFS Starting Pitchers

Lucas Giolito - P, CHW at SEA ($9,600)

Out of the Big 4 pitchers tonight, Giolito is my number one. Yes, I am biased as I am heavily invested in Giolito this season. He did not prove me wrong in his first start versus the Angels, throwing 5.1 innings and striking out eight while allowing two runs. He made Mike Trout look silly on his changeup, and the velocity of the fastball sat around 95 mph, which was one mph higher than last year's season added. Giolito also increased his slider usage, which could be another game-changer this season. It's obviously a small sample with Mariners, but they have struggled offensively out the gate. In the short season, they are nearly striking out 26% of the time versus RHP with a .217 BA and .316 wOBA. Giolito threw 87 pitches in his first start, so 100 should not be a problem, and that hopefully means 6+ if not 7+ innings are in the card for Giolito. Let's see some more CY GIO tonight.

Tyler Glasnow - P, TB at BOS (9,100)

They say do not overreact to a one-game sample by adding the SLUTTER for Glasnow made me already regret so many of my fade takes this season. Glasnow threw six strong innings, allowing only one hit, did not walk a batter (most surprising stat) and struck out six. The last of walks and the fact Glasnow threw only 77 pitches was quite impressive from last year's starts, where he carried a 9.2% BB rate, which led to a lot of quick hooks. The addition of the SLUTTER (classified as a slider on Savant) was clear as he threw it 33.8% of the time, which reduced his curveball use to 11.7% compared to 34.8% of the time in 2020. Could this all change tonight? Sure, but I will take my chances against a Red Sox offense, outside of J.D. Martinez that has struggled to start the season. Versus RHP, the Red Sox are striking out almost 28% of the time with a .067 ISO and .231 BA. The idea of using Giolito and Glasnow together is how I am starting my main lineups tonight.

Other Options: Yu Darvish (SD vs. SF) $10,000, Marcus Stroman (NYM at PHI) $8,000, Aaron Sanchez (SF at SD) $6,300

DraftKings DFS Infielders

Dom Nuñez - C, COL vs. Luke Weaver ($2,900)

It was really hard for me not to write exclusively about the Rockies and DBacks value, but that would be no fun for the readers, as that is easy stuff. When it came to catcher, I could not resist. Nuñez started two of the first four games for the Rockies and is only 1-8, but that one was a big fly. 2021 will be Nuñez's first big run with the Rockies, and he will bring nice power and some speed combo to the lineup. Tonight he faces Weaver, who threw 52 innings in 2020, racked up a 6.58 ERA, a 42% hard-hit rate, 9.3% barrel rate, and a 54% fly-ball rate. The fly-ball rate sticks out the most as he has perenially had a fly-ball rate over 50% and sometimes in the 60% range. That will not bode well in Coors, so enjoy Nuñez and some other Rockies bats, especially this cheap catching option.

Other Options: Omar Narvaez (MIL at CHC) $2,700, Alejandro Kirk (TOR at TEX) $2,500

Nate Lowe - 1B, TEX vs Tanner Roark ($3,800)

FREE NATE LOWE!!!!! The movement is happening!!!! Lowe has hit safely in each of the first four Rangers games, hitting fourth or fifth in each game, and most importantly, even starting versus LHP. Lowe is hitting .333, with two extra-base hits and ten RBI to start the season, racking up the fantasy points. He flexed the muscle with a 45.5% hard-hit rate, 9.1% barrel rate, and an impressive maxEV of 113.9 mph. Tonight he faces Roark, who allowed LHH to hit .289, with a .370 wOBA and a 14.9% HR/FB rate in the full 2019 season. The Rangers bats started hot this season and should continue tonight versus Roark. Lowe makes a nice cash game play and pivot of the likely popular (for a good reason) Cron.

Other Options: C.J. Cron (COL vs. AZ) $3,700

Marcus Semien - 2B, TOR at Dane Dunning  ($4,600)

Talk about hot starts; look no further than Semien. The new Jays' leadoff hitter has only hit safely in two of four games, but he has multiple hits in those games, combining for two home runs, two stolen bases, and a .333 ISO. It is a small sample, but he barrels the ball up 13.3% of the time with an awesome, unsustainable, 60% hard-hit rate. He is leading off for the Jays and should be another nice play leading off tonight versus the Rangers. The Rangers will use Dunning to open and follow it up with their wonderful bullpen. The Jays are a strong stack today if pivoting off Coors and Semien should be a major part of the stack as he will set the table for the big boppers.

Other Options: Ryan McMahon (COL vs AZ) $3,700, Jake Cronenworth (SD vs SF) $3,600, Chris Owings/Garrett Hampson (COL vs AZ) $3,300/$3,200

Alec Bohm - 3B, PHI vs. Marcus Stroman ($3,100)

I am a Stroman fan, heavily invested in season-long leagues, but it is hard to ignore Bohm's being just mispriced. DK made this mistake all of last season, and that has continued into 2021. Bohm is hitting fifth-most games for the Phillies and has contributed fantasy points in all four games this season. He has hit safely in the last two games with a 50% hard-hit rate and even throwing in a stolen base. Last season Bohm was hitting everything hard and even hit RHP well. He had a .358 average, .387 wOBA, and 10 XBH out of his 44 hits against. Bohm's biggest issue is hitting on the ground a lot, but he is worth the upside that he can run into a big one at his price. At worst, all it takes is a hit or two, plus a run/RBI or two, and he is well paying off his discounted price tag. Bohm brings some great salary relief with upside tonight.

Willy Adames - SS, TB at Martin Perez ($3,800)

Adames has started off the season, hitting safely in two of four games for the Rays, including a double yesterday. The main attraction to Adames tonight is that SS is quite pricey, and the pay-down spots are not great. Also, the Rays should be a great stack spot today versus the lefty Perez. Last season Adames hit .319 vs. LHP, with a .277 ISO and a 25% HR/FB rate. Perez has not been the most dominant versus RHH either. In the last two seasons, He has allowed a wOBA of at least .321, over one HR/9, only an 18% K-rate, while walking nearly 10% of RHH faced. Perez has a good chance to get hit around, and Adames could be a nice part of that and a potential stack piece with Manuel Margot.

Other Options: Trevor Story (COL vs. AZ) $5,400, Francisco Lindor (NYM at PHI) $5,000

DraftKings DFS Outfielders

Ketel Marte - OF, ARI at German Marquez ($4,600)

I know it is early, but it feels safe to say Marte is feeling healthy, and we can try and forget about the mess of a 2020 season. He has hit safely in all four games to start the season with multi-hit games in three of the four. Marte is hitting .563 with a .500 ISO and a 340 wRC+. Yes, these numbers are not sustainable, but it does show how locked in he is, and he heads to Coors, which can definitely help the hot start continue just a little longer. Marte is also walking 11% of the time while only striking out 11% of the time, which is impressive. Marte is barreling the ball over 14% of the time with a hard-hit rate of over 42%. He faces Marquex tonight, who only allowed one run over his four innings versus the Dodgers but allowed six hits and walked six to get the early exit. He played Houdini a lot, avoiding the big inning, plus the early hook brought that Rockies' bullpen in sooner. Marte should be over $5K tonight and is not, so enjoy the discount before Wednesday.

Joey Gallo - OF, TEX vs. Tanner Roark ($4,200)

I cannot quit Gallo, and not one can make me. Gallo went 0'fer on Monday after hitting safely in all three games to start the season in Kansas City. He is hitting .385 to start the season with a .231 ISO and an impressive .579 OPB. He is either hitting the ball hard in play or walking, which helps fantasy stats all around. When he does hit the ball, it has been barreled 12.5% of the time with a 62.5% hard-hit rate and an average EV, no not maxEV, but an average of 102.2 mph. I expect Gallo to stay hot tonight with another double-digit fantasy point game versus Roark tonight. Gallo was injured in 2020, but looking at his 2019 numbers, he had a .313 ISO, 36.8% HR/FB, and a hard-hit rate over 53% vs. RHP. Get you, Gallo, on tonight when pivoting off of Coors.

Michael Conforto - OF, NYM at Chase Anderson ($3,700)

The Mets are underpriced tonight, and that starts with Conforto. During the Mets' first game of the season on Monday, Conforto hit third and went 2-5, which will work for his price point. In 2020 he had a big season, including a .344 average vs. RHP, a .414 wOBA, and a 21.7% HR/FB. Conforto was locked in and hopefully carried that over this season. He faces Anderson tonight, which allowed LHH to hit .328 last season with a .431 wOBA and a 27.6% HR/FB rate. The Mets are a nice, affordable stack tonight, and the power bat of Conforto should not be forgotten.

There are many good outfielders tonight; listen to MLB DFS Quick Hits for the whole rundown.

DraftKings DFS Stacks

  • COORS Field Colorado Rockies vs. Arizona Diamondbacks (German Marquez, RHP vs. Luke Weaver, RHP)
  • Toronto Blue Jays and Texas Rangers (Dane Dunning, RHP vs. Tanner Roark, RHP)
  • Tampa Bay Rays at Boston Red Sox (Martin Perez, LHP)
  • Sneaky Stack - New York Mets at Philadelphia Phillies (Chase Anderson, RHP)
