Ryan Jeffers Starting Behind The Plate Monday
4 years agoMinnesota Twins catcher Ryan Jeffers will get the start behind the plate for Monday's series opener against the Detroit Tigers. Jeffers is currently 1-for-4 this year, with a loud pinch-hit single in Sunday's game. The 23-year-old will be behind the dish for the second time this season, as manager Rocco Baldelli seems trending towards a near-even split between Jeffers and starter Mitch Garver. Fortunately, this shouldn't be too detrimental to Garver's value, so long as he continues to swing the bat well- he collected two hits and a homer on Sunday. Garver caught 82 games in his breakout 2019 season and is seemingly in line for that number if he's in an even timeshare with Jeffers.
