Mitch Garver Belts First Home Run Of Season Sunday
4 years agoMinnesota Twins catcher Mitch Garver went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Sunday's win over Milwaukee. Garver sent a 94-MPH fastball to the opposite field at an exit velocity of 101.7 MPH for his first long ball of the season. The veteran backstop also went the other way on his infield single, which is an encouraging trend given that he hit to the opposite field just 13.9 percent of the time in his brutal 2020 season, the lowest rate of his career. Garver may cede some playing time to Ryan Jeffers, the superior pitch framer of the two, but he can get the lion's share of the playing time if he has more games swinging the bat like this.
