4 years agoHouston Astros designated hitter Yordan Alvarez had a big day at the plate in Saturday's 9-1 win over the Athletics. Alvarez went 3-for-5 with a three-run homer and a pair of runs scored. The home run was a no-doubter, as the 23-year-old crushed a 94-MPH cutter 404 feet into the center-field seats at an exit velocity of 108.6 MPH. Alvarez is seeing the ball well early on this season, as he has five hits- three of them for extra bases- and six RBI in three games so far. He looks poised for a big season in a strong Astros' lineup.--Tim Capurso
