Anthony Bass Blows His First Save Chance
4 years agoMiami Marlins closer Anthony Bass blew the game on Friday in his first appearance in a Marlins uniform. Bass came into the ninth inning with a two run lead, but allowed four runs on four hits with just one strikeout. Bass looked easily hittable and wasn't fooling anyone on the mound in this one. He was handed the closer's role as soon as he signed for some reason, and previous behavior from manager Don Mattingly seems to show that a "he's our guy" mentality could keep Bass in the closer's role for a while regardless of how effective he is. Yimi Garcia would be up next, but it is not likely that a change will happen soon.
