4 years agoThe Cleveland Indians will open up the season with Shane Bieber as their Opening Day starter at the Detroit Tigers. The matchup is a great one for Bieber as Detroit led the league in terms of strikeout rate against right-handed pitching in 2020. Bieber as the Opening Day starter should come as no surprise as Bieber won the 2020 AL Cy Young after posting a 1.63 ERA, .87 WHIP, and recording 122 strikeouts across 77 1/3 innings pitched. Bieber should be a bonafide ace throughout the 2021 campaign and should greatly benefit from pitching against offenses within the AL and NL Central Divisions as he did a season ago.
