Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Freddy Peralta has been named the Brewers' fifth starter to begin the regular season, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. Peralta made just one start for the Brewers last year, but he'll begin the year in the rotation after a strong spring performance. The right-hander has made three Cactus League appearances (one start), allowing one run on eight hits and three walks while striking out 15 in 8 1/3 innings. He immediately becomes valuable in all league formats. His propensity for strikeouts makes him a strong candidate to fill the back end of rotations in fantasy leagues in 2021.--James Stokke

Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Freddy Peralta (groin) threw on flat ground on Wednesday and said that he expects to make his next start, potentially on one extra day of rest. The Brewers mentioned the possibility of Peralta needing an extra day of rest earlier this week. Barring a change of plans, the 28-year-old will most likely make his next outing in Tampa against the Rays this Sunday. Peralta left his last start early on Sunday against the Chicago Cubs due to soreness in his groin, but the team never sent him for testing, signaling that the injury wasn't very serious at all. As long as the Dominican pitcher is cleared to start this weekend, fantasy managers should return him to their starting lineups in all formats. Peralta has been great so far in 2025, going 4-2 with a sharp 2.18 ERA and 1.04 WHIP while striking out 48 and walking 15 in 45 1/3 innings over his eight starts.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Freddy Peralta (groin) has not undergone any imaging, but the team may opt to give him an extra day or two to rest. Peralta exited Sunday's contest early due to groin soreness. However, given this report, it seems the right-hander avoided a significant injury. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status throughout the week in case he faces a setback. On Sunday, Peralta logged six shutout innings against the Cubs. He allowed just four hits, one walk, and struck out seven batters. Through 45 1/3 innings of work this season, the 28-year-old has posted an impressive 2.18 ERA with a strong 1.04 WHIP. If Peralta were to need an additional period to rest, Quinn Priester could be given a start, as he was deployed in a long relief role over the weekend.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Freddy Peralta certainly pitched well enough to get a win on Wednesday against the visiting Kansas City Royals at American Family Field, but instead he picked up a no-decision in a 3-2 extra-innings win despite allowed just one earned run on two hits while walking none and striking out eight in eight innings of work. The 28-year-old Dominican allowed his only run in the second inning and then retired the last 19 batters that he faced in his second outing of 2025. Peralta's eight innings pitched tied a career high, and he's looked excellent in the early going in 2025, as he now sports a 2.08 ERA with 16 strikeouts and only one walk in 13 innings pitched. He's essentially a must-start in fantasy lineups when he takes the ball, but he could be more volatile in his next scheduled outing in Colorado against the Rockies at hitter-friendly Coors Field.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Freddy Peralta got his season off to a strong start despite a tough environment on the road at Yankee Stadium. Peralta had eight strikeouts in five innings while giving up four hits and two earned runs. Both runs he allowed were on solo home runs from Austin Wells and Anthony Volpe in the first two innings. The 28-year-old took the loss even though he kept his team in the game and departed with the score just 2-1. He only worked five innings since his pitch count was at 93, so he'll need to improve his efficiency to work deeper into games to be an elite fantasy option. His strikeouts were encouraging, though, and he'll look to build on his momentum in his next start, which lines up to be next week at home against the Royals.--Zach Thompson - RotoBaller
