Craig Kimbrel Finishes Strong, Looks For Bounce-Back Season
4 years agoChicago Cubs reliever Craig Kimbrel had a rough month as shown by his 12.15 ERA in seven games but he ended the spring on a high with two strikeouts over an inning of work on Monday. The right-hander allowed nine earned runs in his first three appearances but none over his final four. His fastball was also up to 98 mph recently. Kimbrel will be expected to do the heavy lifting in the Cubs bullpen and is the favorite for saves. The 32-year-old is coming off a string of two disappointing seasons that he's looking to break. Last season, Kimbrel posted a 5.28 ERA and just two saves but he struck out 28 batters in 15.1 innings.
