Brent Rooker Optioned To Alternate Site
4 years agoMinnesota Twins outfielder Brent Rooker was optioned to the team's alternate site. Rooker was seemingly the favorite for the starting left-field job after fellow prospect Alex Kirilloff was sent down to the minors, but it was not to be. Rooker had a solid spring at the plate, though he did strike out 15 times while walking just once, with manager Rocco Baldelli also citing the 26-year-old's need to be a more "well-rounded player"- implying that his defense could use some work in the minors. The Twins will go with the lefty/righty platoon of Jake Cave and Kyle Garlick to start the season, though it might not be long before Rooker gets his chance in the big leagues. He's a guy to watch on the waiver wire if he gets the call.
