Trevor May Having A Solid Spring
4 years agoNew York Mets reliever Trevor May has had a solid spring posting a 3.86 ERA, a 1.14 WHIP, and a 9:3 K:BB in seven innings pitched in Grapefruit League action. May will be the lone, primary set-up man to Edwin Diaz for the early part of the 2021 campaign, with Seth Lugo (elbow) starting the season on the injured list. As a result, he should be on the radars of all managers in leagues that reward holds. May is coming off an excellent 2020 campaign with the Twins where he posted a 3.86 ERA, a 1.16 WHIP, and struck out 38 batters (38.6% of the batters he faced) in 23 1/3 IP. May has also maintained a WHIP of 1.16 or less and an xBA under .210 for three straight seasons. May remains an elite late-inning relief option that can provide managers with outstanding ratios, strikeouts, and a good number of holds. He may even have an opportunity to pick up some saves if Diaz struggles, particularly while Lugo remains on the mend.
