Jazz Chisholm Wins The Starting Second Base Job
4 years agoMiami Marlins second baseman Jazz Chisholm has officially won the starting job according to general manager Kim Ng. Chisholm and Isan Diaz came into spring training competing for the job, and all signs pointed to Diaz having a significant advantage to start things off. Chisholm ended up hitting .268 with an .821 OPS while Diaz hit .059 with a .385 OPS. He got two hits all month, basically forcing the Marlins to give the job to Chisholm. Chisholm is the one with more upside anyway, and is a much more exciting player to watch. He still has a lot of swing-and-miss in his bat, but if he can develop some more patience and contact skills at the plate, the sky is the limit for Jazz, who has excellent power and speed.
