Leury Garcia Scratched From Lineup Saturday
4 years agoChicago White Sox infielder/outfielder Leury Garcia (shoulder) was scratched from the lineup on Saturday afternoon with right shoulder soreness, according to The Athletic's James Fegan. Fegan added that the move was considered precautionary, as manager Tony La Russa described Garcia's shoulder as "a little stiff" while saying the team didn't want to push him. It makes sense the White Sox will be cautious with Garcia — who will likely serve as the team's fourth outfielder — after seeing their outfield depth depleted this spring due to injuries suffered by Adam Engel (hamstring) and Eloy Jimenez (pectoral). When healthy, Garcia will be plugged in to multiple positions in Chicago's lineup, as he has potential to be a 10-homer, 15 steal threat over the course of a full season. Managers in deeper, AL-only formats will want to take a look at targeting Garcia for his bat and positional flexibility he should gain this year.
