Kole Calhoun Getting Closer To Facing Live Pitching
4 years agoArizona Diamondbacks outfielder Kole Calhoun (knee) is getting closer to facing live pitching in a simulated game, according to Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic. Manager Torey Lovullo told Piecoro, "I think that's the next step after several days of BP (batting practice) to where he could stand in the box, take his normal at-bat, strike the baseball and not run." Calhoun underwent surgery earlier this month to repair a tear in his meniscus, and while initially hopeful he would be back in time for Opening Day, he will almost certainly open the year on the injured list. He is not expected to miss more than a couple weeks though, and after launching 16 home runs with a .526 slugging percentage in 54 games last year, he is a good source of power late in drafts at his current 313 ADP.
