Lance McCullers Jr. Signs Five-Year Extension
4 years agoHouston Astros pitcher Lance McCullers Jr. will sign a five-year, $85 million contract extension, per Jeff Passan of ESPN. McCullers Jr. has been deep in extension talks with the Astros for the past few weeks and it appears the deal is done. The 27-year-old returned to the mound last season after missing all of 2019 because of Tommy John surgery. The right-handed starter went 3-3 with a 3.96 ERA and a solid 1.16 WHIP during the shortened season and now is locked up long-term with the Astros organization. In 91 career starts, McCullers Jr. is 32-25 with a 3.70 ERA, 565 strikeouts through 508 2/3 career innings and should be considered a solid, mid-rotation fantasy asset heading into drafts.
