The Minnesota Vikings re-signed running back Ameer Abdullah to an undisclosed deal on Wednesday, according to a source. Abdullah had just eight carries for 42 yards and 3ight receptions for 58 yards and two touchdowns for Minnesota last year, so he wasn't on the fantasy radar. Dalvin Cook is a workhorse running back for the Vikings, so unless he goes down with an injury, Abdullah is likely to remain on the waiver wire in most leagues. Mike Boone left in free agency for the Denver Broncos, but Minnesota also has Alexander Mattison as the direct backup to Cook. The 27-year-old Abdullah will have a chance at a slightly bigger role in 2021, but the fact that he played on just 71 offensive snaps last year cannot be ignored. He can also contribute on special teams, returning kickoffs and punts.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Las Vegas Raiders running back Ameer Abdullah (foot) is listed as doubtful for the Week 18 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers. Abdullah has been absent in practice this week after apparently picking up a foot injury during last week's win over the New Orleans Saints. The 31-year-old rushed 20 times for 115 yards and hauled in three of his four targets for 32 yards during last week's game. The absence of Abdullah would probably mean that Alexander Mattison would serve as the lead back on Sunday. Mattison has been held to 36 rushing yards or less in each of his last six games. Fantasy managers should be able to find a better streaming option for Week 18.--Andy Webb - RotoBaller

Las Vegas Raiders running back Ameer Abdullah (foot) was unable to join the team at practice for the second straight day this week. Abdullah put up a career-high 115 rushing yards in last week's win over the New Orleans Saints but apparently picked up a foot injury in the process that now has him questionable to play in the Week 18 regular-season finale against the division-rival Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday. The 31-year-old RB will probably need to practice in some capacity on Friday to avoid being ruled out entirely. The former second-round selection has seen more involvement in the Raiders backfield in the back half of the season due to injuries to Alexander Mattison and Zamir White and has averaged 4.7 yards per carry, but it has amounted to only 311 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Abdullah has mainly been a deep-league flex option in PPR leagues. If Abdullah cannot play against LA, look for rookie Dylan Laube to back up Mattison on Sunday.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Las Vegas Raiders running back Ameer Abdullah (foot) was listed as a non-participant to kick off this week of practice. The 31-year-old produced the best rushing total of his career in Sunday's 25-10 win against the New Orleans Saints. Unfortunately, Abdullah sustained a foot injury early in the fourth quarter, or he'd have had an even bigger day. While he was initially deemed questionable to return to the contest, he did not. The Nebraska product has been one of the more pleasant surprises late in the season, but he could be in danger of missing Sunday's meeting with the visiting Los Angeles Chargers. If Abdullah can't play, backfield mate Alexander Mattison projects to lead the Raiders' rushing attack with Chris Collier and/or Dylan Laube working in behind him. Abdullah's practice participation over the next two days should give us a better idea of his status for Sunday's bout.--Alex Ciulla

Las Vegas Raiders running back Ameer Abdullah (foot) rushed for 115 yards on 20 carries during Sunday's Week 17 win over the New Orleans Saints. He also caught three of his four targets for an additional 32 yards through the air. Abdullah managed to approach the century-and-a-half mark for total scrimmage yards despite playing just three quarters. He registered his final touch on the first play of the fourth quarter, then proceeded to injure his foot. The Raiders listed him as questionable, but he did not return to the contest. Between Weeks 15 and 16, Abdullah ranked as the overall RB11 in PPR leagues, but it seemed like most of his value came from his pass-catching role and nose for the end zone. That wasn't the case in Week 17, though, as the majority of his fantasy points came from raw rushing yards. In fact, he didn't score a touchdown, and he also had his lowest receiving contributions since Week 14. His volume and efficiency allowed him to rank as the overall RB5 in PPR leagues for Week 17 so far, and he should be able to still rank inside the top-12 range once the rest of this week's games wrap up. In one of the bigger surprises of the 2024 season, if Abdullah can get healthy in time for Week 18, he'll likely rank as a solid RB2 option with significant upside against the Los Angeles Chargers.--Andersen Pickard - RotoBaller
