Miles Mikolas Plays Catch On Wednesday
Miles Mikolas (shoulder) was able to play catch on Wednesday. The plan is for him to do that one more time before the team plans out the next step (likely a bullpen session, then a simulated game). Mikolas was not able to pitch at all last season due to an elbow issue, but he's been bothered more by his shoulder this spring. While there were early concerns that he may be headed for Tommy John Surgery, it seems like all imaging tests came up clean and he's heading in the right direction. He won't start the season in the rotation, but he could work his way into it sometime later in April.

Miles Mikolas Strikes Out Five Over Six One-Run Frames
Miles Mikolas struck out five across six ⅓ one-run frames to lead the Cardinals to a series victory over their divisional rival Chicago Cubs on Sunday. After posting a poor 5.77 ERA and 1.42 WHIP through his first eight starts of the season, the 35-year-old has looked much sharper in his past five starts with a 2.70 ERA and 0.73 WHIP and carried that momentum into Sunday's strong performance. Overall, through 84 ⅓ innings, Mikolas carries a 4.59 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, and a 15:64 BB:K ratio. He is tentatively scheduled to face the San Francisco Giants on Saturday and could be a sneaky option in DFS.

Miles Mikolas Collects Another Quality Start
Miles Mikolas put together a good performance in Tuesday's no-decision versus the Pittsburgh Pirates. Mikolas earned his eighth quality start of the season with seven scoreless frames of one-hit ball. He also allowed a walk and struck out six on the evening. Mikolas started the season getting hit hard, but he come along lately with five quality starts over his last six starts. Mikolas doesn't rack up enough strikeouts to be a must-roster, but with the way he is pitching lately, he is worth a look as a backend starter or streamer. Next up for Mikolas will be a date with the rival Chicago Cubs on Sunday.

Miles Mikolas Falls Apart In Fifth Inning
Miles Mikolas looked sharp during the first four innings of Tuesday's game against the New York Mets. After that, the Mets jumped on him for six earned runs on six hits during the fifth inning. Mikolas was pulled out of the game before he could even record an out in the inning. The veteran right-hander was decent last time out but has struggled during a majority of his starts this season. It appears that time has finally caught up to Mikolas who has been fairly reliable throughout his big league career. Fantasy managers probably want to stay away from Mikolas until he gets back on track.

Miles Mikolas Looking To Get Right Friday
Miles Mikolas will look to get straightened out when he takes the ball for a road contest against the New York Mets. The 35-year-old was knocked around for nine hits, including three homers, leading to five earned runs allowed in just 4 1/3 innings in a losing effort against the Brewers his last time out. It was the second consecutive outing and third of five on the season in which the veteran has allowed five earned runs in less than five innings this season. The rough outing raised his ERA to 6.49 through five starts, although his 4.05 xFIP, 4.28 SIERA, and solid 6% BB% suggest positive regression is likely moving forward.
