Jose Altuve Hits First Home Run Of Spring
4 years agoHouston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve went 2-for-3 with a home run and two runs scored in Wednesday's tie with the Cardinals. Altuve had been in a bit of a slump, so it was a good sign to see him back in the hit column, particularly with his first homer of the spring. The 30-year-old endured the worst year of his career in 2020- marred by a .219 batting average and .250 BABIP, both of which were major outliers compared to his career averages of .311 and .334, respectively. Altuve chased too many pitches out of the zone last year- and seemed to be in a slump for much of the shortened season. He won't steal as many bases as he used to, but fantasy investors should feel confident in a bounce-back for Altuve in the average, home runs, and runs categories as Houston's new leadoff hitter in 2021.
