Chris Paddack Has Rough Outing Wednesday
4 years agoSan Diego Padres starting pitcher Chris Paddack pitched 1 2/3 innings in Wednesday's loss to the Cubs, allowing four hits, three walks, and four runs while striking out two. Paddack was scheduled to pitch three-to-four innings, though he couldn't work himself out of a second-inning jam. It's only spring training, but the struggles were eerily reminiscent of last season when the 25-year-old struggled to locate his fastball- .308 batting average, .596 expected slugging percentage against. Paddack had looked sharp coming into this outing, so there's reason to believe this was just a minor bump in the road. Fantasy managers who take the risk and invest in Paddack past pick-100 will be getting a pitcher with a career 20.7 percent K-BB rate and a groundball rate above 40 percent.
