Anthony Bass Gives Up Two Runs On Wednesday
4 years agoMiami Marlins expected closer Anthony Bass had a rough outing in Wednesday's Grapefruit League game against the New York Mets. Bass pitched the seventh inning, allowing two runs on two hits and a walk while striking out one. Bass is ticketed for the closer's role according to Marlins manager Don Mattingly, but he will have competition and likely won't have too much leeway if he struggles. The Marlins have several other options for late game relief innings, but Mattingly remains one of the least creative in-game managers in baseball. Bass should start the season out with mixed league value, but he'll need to keep his ninth inning role to maintain that value.
