Seahawks Sign Ahkello Witherspoon To One-Year Deal
4 years agoThe Seattle Seahawks signed free-agent cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon, formerly of the San Francisco 49ers, to an undisclosed one-year deal on Tuesday. Witherspoon was benched in favor of Emmanuel Moseley to finish the 2019 season in San Francisco, but he re-entered the starting lineup for the final three games of 2020 and played well. Witherspoon will join D.J. Reed, who Seattle claimed off waivers from the 49ers last season. The soon-to-be 26-year-old was a third-round pick by the 49ers out of Colorado in 2017, and he was mostly a disappointment in his four seasons with the team. In 47 career games (33 starts), Witherspoon has 117 combined tackles (99 solo), four interceptions (one for a touchdown), 24 passes defensed, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
