Willie Calhoun Likely To Miss Start Of Season
4 years agoTexas Rangers designated hitter Willie Calhoun will likely need longer to recover from a groin strain that has kept him sidelined this spring, according to Evan Grant of Dallas Morning News. Grant reports that Calhoun will most likely not be on the Opening Day active roster as he continues to heal. Calhoun had struggled to start Spring Training, hitting 1-for-11 with two walks and one run scored in five games of action. Coming off the heels of a 2020 campaign that saw him post career-worsts with a .190 average and .491 OPS over 29 games, Calhoun's value in fantasy appears to be in a tailspin now. In deep leagues with several IL slots, it couldn't hurt to take a late-round flyer on him and stash him until he's healthy. Otherwise, look to avoid Calhoun come draft day.
