Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Jose Berrios struggled in his third outing of the spring on Tuesday against the Pirates. Berrios pitched four innings, allowing eight hits, four runs, and a walk while striking out just one batter. It is still spring, but the results weren't pretty, as the 26-year-old struggled with location, particularly with the fastball and curveball. Berrios threw his heater just 24 percent of the time in this outing, so he was clearly trying to experiment with off-speed stuff, though the Pirates were ready to capitalize. Berrios will have multiple opportunities to right the ship after this rough outing, as he had looked sharp before Tuesday's contest.--Tim Capurso

Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Jose Berrios will be the team's Opening Day starter next Thursday, March 27, against the division-rival Baltimore Orioles at home, according to manager John Schneider. Kevin Gausman has been slow-played during spring training, which is probably why Berrios is getting the nod to start the first game of the year. The 30-year-old veteran's strikeout rate fell to just 19.5 percent last year with Toronto, although he finished with a decent 3.60 ERA and 1.15 WHIP with 153 strikeouts and 54 walks in 192 1/3 innings over 32 starts. He's had a solid spring with a 2.35 ERA, 13 strikeouts and four walks in four starts covering 15 1/3 innings pitched. Berrios is no longer a big strikeout guy, which lowers his fantasy floor and ceiling, but he's been as durable as they come for a starting pitcher. We would recommend avoiding him in DFS in a tough first matchup against the O's.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Jose Berrios tossed seven innings of one-run ball in Saturday's 7-2 victory over the Cardinals, allowing just two hits and two walks while striking out four on the way to earning his 16th win of the season. It was the 30-year-old's seventh consecutive quality start and 20th on the season. The 2x All-Star has been good at home, posting a 10-2 record with a 2.69 ERA, and has put together a nice season overall, with a 3.44 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, and 12.5% K-BB% to go with his 16-9 record.--Jarod Rupp - RotoBaller

Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Jose Berrios tossed a gem in a 3-1 win over the Oakland A's on Friday. Berrios allowed one run on six hits over seven innings while striking out eight and walking one to earn the win. The veteran wound up notching 12 swinging strikes to improve his record to 10-9 on the season. Overall, Berrios has a 3.97 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, and 111 strikeouts over 142 2/3 innings of work. Even though his strikeouts are down this season, Berrios remains a solid mid-rotation asset in fantasy leagues. He will look to stay hot in his next start, which is scheduled for Wednesday against the Los Angeles Angels.--Matt T - RotoBaller

Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Jose Berrios was racking up strikeouts during Sunday's game against the Seattle Mariners. Berrios recorded 10 strikeouts while allowing four runs in a no-decision. The long ball continues to haunt Berrios as all the damage in this game came off home runs. Despite that, Berrios was able to miss enough bats with his excellent stuff that it kept his team in the game. He'll take a 3.76 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, and 87/29 K/BB ratio into his next start against the Arizona Diamondbacks.--Andy Webb - RotoBaller
