The San Francisco 49ers re-signed cornerback Jason Verrett to a one-year deal worth $5.5 million on Monday. Verrett had multi-year offers on the table from other teams, but he is deciding to bet on himself again and can make a total of $6.5 million if he makes the Pro Bowl in 2021. The 29-year-old was a first-round pick by the Los Angeles Chargers in 2014, but his career has been sidetracked by various injuries. He played in just one game before landing on Injured Reserve in 2019 and played in 13 games for the Niners in 2020, recording 60 tackles (50 solo), two interceptions and seven passes defensed. Verrett was a Pro Bowler in his second season with the Chargers in 2015 and has been exceptional in the secondary when healthy. He will be providing depth in San Francisco's secondary in 2021, and if he remains on the field and produces, he could cash in in 2022.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerRead More News
